The event was co-organized by China Building Materials Inspection & Certification Group Xianyang Co., Ltd., the National Center for Quality Supervision and Inspection of Non-Metallic Mineral Products, the Industrial (Non-Metallic Mineral Products) Product Quality Control and Technical Evaluation Laboratory, and the Advanced Inorganic Non-Metallic Industry Center of the National New Materials Testing Platform, with support from the China Friction and Sealing Materials Association, the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Friction Materials Sub‑Technical Committee of the National Non‑Mineral Standards Committee, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and Xianyang Non‑Metallic Minerals Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd. Theme:

  From November 27 to 30, 2020, the “First Friction Materials Quality Development Conference and High-Level Forum” was held in Xiamen, China. The event was co-organized by China Building Materials Inspection & Certification Group Xianyang Co., Ltd., the National Center for Quality Supervision and Inspection of Non-Metallic Mineral Products, the Industrial (Non-Metallic Mineral Products) Product Quality Control and Technical Evaluation Laboratory, and the Advanced Inorganic Non-Metallic Industry Center of the National New Materials Testing Platform, with support from the China Friction and Sealing Materials Association, the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Friction Materials Sub‑Technical Committee of the National Non‑Mineral Standards Committee, Northwestern Polytechnical University, and Xianyang Non‑Metallic Minerals Research and Design Institute Co., Ltd. With the theme “Quality and Safety of Friction Materials,” the conference summarized and analyzed the current state of friction material product quality, reviewed the implementation of CCC certification, showcased new technologies, equipment, processes, and materials in the friction materials industry, and established a testing and evaluation platform for friction materials, thereby promoting high-quality development and progress in China’s friction materials sector. The meeting was chaired by Lei Jianbin, General Manager of Xianyang Company of the National Inspection Group.

  Guan Junwen, Deputy Director of the Industrial Products Certification Division of the Certification Supervision and Management Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation; Yi Xiangrong, Deputy Director of the Supervision and Sampling Division of the Quality and Safety Supervision Department of the State Administration for Market Regulation; Li Xi, from the Building Materials Division of the Raw Materials Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; Lu Cuixuan, of the Product Quality and Safety Management Division of the Shanghai Municipal Administration for Market Regulation; Wang Yao, Executive Chairman of the China Friction and Sealing Materials Association; Ma Zhenzhu, General Manager of the China Building Materials Academy and Chairman of the China National Inspection Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “CNIG”); Yin Xiaodong, former Deputy General Manager of China Non-Metallic Minerals Industry Co., Ltd. and former Director and Party Secretary of the Xianyang Institute of Research and Design of Non-Metallic Minerals; Gu Yifan, former Secretary-General of the China Automotive Brake Association; Qiu Yan, Head of the Science and Technology Department of CNIG and Chairman of CNIG’s Xiamen Branch; Shi Zhigang, Deputy General Manager of CNIG’s Xianyang Branch; Zhang Fan, Executive Deputy General Manager of CNIG’s Shaanxi Branch, and Jiao Hongbin, Deputy General Manager—along with other leaders and guests—and more than 200 representatives from government departments, industry associations, research institutions, universities, and enterprises, as well as industry experts and scholars, attended the conference.

  

 

  At this conference, leaders and experts, drawing on their respective areas of expertise, explained the policies and procedures related to the 3C certification for brake lining products; outlined policy support and key considerations for the R&D of critical raw materials; and highlighted issues that require attention in the development of friction material product quality in China, as well as the priority tasks we must focus on in standardization and testing.
